" ７月 ”

毎日暑い日が続きますね～燃えるように暑いです。いつまで続く？ハアー

私７月が好きだ。なぜかというと、
７月７日は『七夕』祭りがあり、１５日と１６日が『六月灯』（ろっがっどー）であり、１７日は『傘焼き』祭りがあり、『海の日』、谷山観光協会が対象した食文化『そうめん流し』開催があり、「おぎおんさぁ」Ogion saa　と呼ぶ夏祭りなどがあり、自分の誕生日もあるからである。
海の日とは、平成１５年の祝日法改正で７月の第３月曜日になったらしく、世界の国々の中で『海の日』を国民の祝日としている国は唯一日本だけらしい。

７月７日は七夕。願いごとを細長い紙のたんざくに書いてササに結び付けるなど、色々な飾りつけをしたササ飾りを作る。七夕は中国の昔話が基になっている。一年に一度、この日だけ夜空の織り姫の星と彦星が天の川を越えて会うことができると伝えられている。

July 7th is Tanabata. People make a sasakazari, a branch of dwarf bamboo with a variety of decorations attached, including some tanazaku (special strips of paper for writing wishes). Tanabata is an old Chinese legend. It's said that the Weaver (star Vega) and the Herdsman (Altair) are able to cross the Milky Way to meet on this night each year.

さて、中旬を過ぎると梅雨もあけ夏本番だ。夏の間の健康を願い、暑中見舞いと呼ばれるあいさつ状を知り合いに送る。暑さに負けないように栄養のあるウナギを食べたり、ビアガーデンで冷えたビールを飲んだりするのもこの頃だ。また、花火大会に浴衣姿というのも涼しさを呼ぶ７月だ。さらに、お中元の季節でもある。お中元というのはお世話になっている人に暑い夏を元気に過ごせるように思いやったプレゼントなどを送ることである。

The latter part of July is the end of the rainy season and the start of real summer. People send greeting cards known as shochuu mimai to acquaintances to wish them good health through the summer. This is also the time of eating nutrient-rich grilled eel and drinking cold beer at a beer garden. And the sight of cotton yukata is a cooling image of watching a fireworks for the month of July. This is also the season for ochuugen, or mid-year gift giving.
